The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA) finalized its master plan for modernizing the West Los Angeles (WLA) campus, which emphasizes supporting the VA's mission to end veteran homelessness in the country by 2015, according to a VA press release.
Master Plan expands GLA's homeless program
Under the past two years of Secretary Shinseki's leadership, the VA has made significant strides toward ending veteran homelessness and enhancing the services they provide to veterans and their families. The final WLA master plan continues in this direction by expanding VA programs with a specific focus on supporting chronically homeless veterans. Under the current plan, several buildings will be renovated, the clinic area will expand, and research activities will be concentrated in the clinical area, allowing the VA to serve veterans in one central area and provide better support overall.
