The Department of Veterans Affairs recently announced the launch of the Veterans Relationship Management (VRM), a multi-year initiative to improve veterans' access to health care and benefits. VRM will focus on 1) improving telephone services; and 2) a new website.

Says VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, "VRM will transform Veterans' interactions with VA by using innovative 21st century technologies."

Improved telephone service means veterans can reach call centers more quickly and the recording and reviewing of calls ensures the overall quality of service offered to veterans.

The VA collaborated with the Department of Defense to create a single sign-on system for both servicemembers and veterans. Single sign-on establish the user's identity, which allows that user to complete multiple transactions through VRM without having to re-enter information.

The VA plans on rolling out VRM in 6-month increments.
