The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is stepping up its outreach efforts to encourage veterans to use the full array of benefits that is available to them. The VA announced today that it will launch a new 30-second television advertisement highlighting the possible paths for veterans as they transition from service in Iraq and Afghanistan to civilian life.
In a press release announcing the campaign, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki said: "VA is committed to reaching all Veterans to say 'thank you for your service', and to let them know about the health care, benefits and services available to help them meet whatever challenges lie ahead."
The VA selected six target cities to air the commercial--all based on the number of veterans that expected to return from service to these locations. The cities include:
A series of advertisements are planned in this outreach effort during the next several months.
