The Small Business Administration recently provided the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with an "A" rating on its Small Business Scorecard. The VA was recognized for its efforts and success in offering contracts to small businesses.
Says Secretary Eric K. Shinseki regarding the recognition, "Through hard work and commitment, VA excels in its procurements with small business. VA is committed to improving Veteran-owned small business contracting and promoting the many rewards of that community's entrepreneurial spirit."
Three percent is the government-wide statutory goal for contracts of this type. Nearly 17 percent of the VA's acquisition dollars went to Veteran-owned, service-disabled small businesses. Overall, the VA leads the federal government in total procurements with Veteran-owned, service-disabled small businesses.
