A mobile-phone application, or app, to help veterans and their families cope with the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has reached over 5,000 veterans in the month since it was launched, according to a press release from the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
The PTSD Coach app offers information on PTSD and treatment plans, tools to track symptoms, coping techniques for veterans with PTSD, and links to further support. The PTSD Coach has received positive reviews from professionals and a perfect score from customers on the iTunes App Store.
The PTSD Coach is the first in a series of mobile applications for veterans envisioned by the VA and the Department of Defense, who hope to capitalize on the popularity of mobile devices to reach a greater number of veterans, servicemembers and military families.
