On Tuesday, President Obama signed the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Improvements Act into law. Passed in late December by Congress, the legislation at once expands benefits and streamlines the Post-9/11 GI Bill's various programs.

In a press release, sponsoring Senator Daniel Akaka (D-HI) stated: "The young men and women in the Armed Forces provide an incredible service to our nation. With the signing of this bill, young veterans will now have an easier time utilizing the education benefits they have earned."

The law provides benefits for National Guard and reserve veterans, as well as covers on-the-job and vocational training.
