It can be difficult for veterans to navigate the complex array of health benefits available to them. To make things easier, the Department of Veterans Affairs plans to launch a new pilot series of Veterans Health Benefits Handbooks. Each handbook will be personalized and tailored with health benefits information based upon each veteran's eligibility. These personalized handbooks will contain:
Says Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, "These handbooks will give Veterans everything they need to know and leave out everything that doesn't apply to them. Our Veterans will now have a comprehensive, easy to understand roadmap to the medical benefits they earned with their service."
Initially, the handbooks will be released in Washington, D.C. and Cleveland, Ohio. Full implementation of the updated handbooks will start in the fall of 2011.
