In an effort to improve patient care, the Department of Veterans Affairs launched the Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation on January 17th. Says VA Under Secretary for Health Dr. Robert Petzel in a press release, "VA has become one of the Nation's leaders in quality health care and is increasingly cited as the standard to emulate. However, we must always continue to find ways to deliver more with our systems to the incredible patients we are honored to serve."
Dr. Tracy Williams Gaudet, of Duke University Medical Center, will serve as office director. The VA will rely on four regional teams to implement the offices at VA medical centers throughout the country. These areas include Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, CA, East Orange, NJ, and Birmingham, AL.
