New Automated GI Bill Processing System Ensures Accuracy, Speed

by Jennifer Hoops
February 04, 2011

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced the deployment of a new automated software solution to support the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The new system is innovative in several ways, including its software development approach, which was done in an agile environment and marks the first VA software project to use this approach.

The new system replaces an interim solution in place since the Post-9/11 GI Bill became effective in 2009. To date, the VA has provided more than $8 billion in benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the new automated system ensures a faster, more accurate process for issuing payment to educational institutions on behalf of eligible Veterans and military personnel.
