Military on Track to Meet Goals for 2011 Recruiting

All four active service branches of the military met or exceeded recruiting and retention goals for the current fiscal year through April, the Department of Defense announced today.

The recruiting numbers for the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force for the first seven months of this fiscal year are as follows:

  • Army: 39,096. Exceeded goal of 38,400
  • Navy: 18,482. 100 percent of goal of 18,482
  • Marine Corps: 12,932. Exceeded goal of 12,897
  • Air Force: 16,153. 100 percent of goal of 16,153

Additionally, all of the six reserve branches of the military met or exceeded recruiting goals with the exception of the Air Force Reserve, which fell just 71 recruits short of its goal of 5,350.

All branches, both active and reserve, are on track to meet retention and attrition targets. For more information, see the press release from the Department of Defense.
