Today’s episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Bravest Families in America With First Lady Michelle Obama, Tom Brokaw, Bob Woodward, is dedicated to honoring military families. A release from Harpo Productions notes that during the First Lady’s visit to the show, Oprah asked what it is about military families that impresses her, to which Obama responded: “Their strength. Their pride. Their courage. Their willingness to sacrifice without complaint moves me every single time. Whenever I'm feeling bad, feeling sorry for myself, I suck it up because of these families.”
The First Lady’s appearance comes just days after President Obama announced a Presidential Directive to strengthen and support military families. “Part of the challenge of getting the message out about military families is they never ask for help,” the first lady continued during the interview. “They never ask for help because you don't do that when you're in the military. You get it done. That's how you're trained. That's what you're taught.”
