The Department of Defense announced this week that the U.S. Cyber Command--the group responsible for managing activities to defend DOD networks--is now at full operational capability. Now, the U.S. Cyber Command will take on tasks such as creating a Joint Operations Center that combines personnel from the Joint Functional Component Command for Network Warfare and the Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations.
Says General Keith Alexander, commander of U.S. Cyber Command, "I am confident in the great servicemembers and civilians we have here at U.S. Cyber Command. Cyberspace is essential to our way of life and U.S. Cyber Command synchronizes our efforts in the defense of DoD networks.
General Alexander expects U.S. Cyber Command to continue to grow as a department, building capacity to maintain pace with DoD's network security needs.
