Department of Veterans Affairs to Test New Paperless Processing System

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki recently announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs will begin testing a new paperless system to process disability compensation claims for Veterans. The regional office located in Providence, Rhode Island will serve as the processing center for the testing process.

Says Secretary Shinseki, "This test program marks a major milestone in in VA's move to paperless processing." The pilot program is expected to begin in November and end in May 2011. The Department of Veterans Affairs expects additional pilot programs to take place before the paperless claims system is rolled out across all 57 regional benefits offices.
