The U.S. Army plans to close the Dallas-Fort Worth Personnel Assistance Point (PAP), a rest and recuperation program for traveling servicemembers, and consolidate operations with the Atlanta PAP by April 1. These changes are due to the decreased number of deployed military personnel traveling between the U.S. and Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a Department of Defense press release.
The USO facility at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport will remain open and continue to help service members and their families traveling through the airport.
In March, commemoration events are scheduled to acknowledge the efforts of the Dallas-Fort Worth community, along with thousands of volunteers, who welcomed and supported deployed soldiers and civilians flying in and out of the region.
