GIBill.com has been redesigned to provide detailed information about the upcoming Post-9/11 GI Bill, which goes into effect on August 1, 2009. Visitors can research both the new GI Bill and the existing Montgomery GI Bill. Additional sections on eligibility, transferability, and WAVE (the Department of Veteran Affairs' (VA) Web Automated Verification of Enrollment system) have also been added.

"The new GI bill will surely bring about an abundance of questions from the military community," GIBill.com manager Seth Restaino said. "We wanted to be as proactive as possible in providing the community with the most comprehensive information regarding the new GI Bill. The new design and multitude of features truly accomplishes that goal."

Features of the GIBill.com redesign include:

  • Ask the Expert. Visitors can ask GIBill.com expert Ron Kness questions about both the new and existing GI Bill programs. Kness has 36 years of military service and is a former Supervisor of Military Personnel Services, including education benefits.
  • Comparison Chart. GIBill.com's comparison chart helps visitors to determine which bill is a better fit by comparing the benefits offered by the new Post-9/11 GI Bill and the old Montgomery GI Bill.
  • Downloadable Cheat Sheet. A quick, printable resource features 10 steps to using the new GI Bill benefit.
  • Redesign. The new design is easy-to-navigate and well organized.
  • Social Networking. GIBill.com is an active member of the Twitter and Facebook communities and provides fellow members with real-time GI Bill information.

GIBill.com will continue to add valuable GI Bill information. Two upcoming features include a comprehensive guide to GI Bill schools, including Yellow Ribbon schools. The Yellow Ribbon Program is a new VA program that allows institutions of higher learning (IHL) in the United States to fund a student's educational expenses not covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill. An IHL can contribute up to 50 percent of those expenses and must commit to funding that student's education for the duration of that student's program.
