Tinker Air Force Base is located five miles east of Oklahoma City and sprawls across 5,020 acres of land. It can be compared to a city with a population of 30,000, and more than 700 buildings. Named in honor of Major General Clarence L. Tinker who lost his life during the early months of World War II, the base is home to the 72nd Air Base Wing, 507th Reserve Air Refueling Wing and Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center.
