Colleges Near Schriever Air Force

At Schriever Air Force Base, you will be part of history. Opened in 1983, Schriever AFB is named in honor of General Bernard A. Schriever, pioneer of the ballistic missile program. Today, Schriever AFB is home to the 50th Space Wing and operates the Air Force Satellite Control Network, charged with launching, operating in orbit, and fixing these devices. Some 6,300 people work at Schriever AFB, located 10 miles east of Colorado Springs.
