Presidio of Monterey (POM), located in Monterey, California, is home to the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC). DLIFLC is the U.S. Department of Defense's primary center for linguist training. It trains more than 3,700 resident students in 22 languages and dialects yearly on the Presidio. While the DLIFLC is the primary activity on POM, the two entities have distinct, yet complementary, functions.
