Corry Field, named in honor of the Medal of Honor recipient Lt. Cdr. William M. Corry, Jr., began training pilots in 1923 north of Pensacola, FL. By 1928, it had outgrown its facilities and moved south to its present location, still training pilots until its decommissioning in 1958. Springing to life again in 1960 as Corry Station, it morphed into a facility for teaching technical communications to communication technicians.

Corry Station sits on 612 acres and has a staff of almost 700 military and civilians. The school has an annual student throughput of 7,500 and is considered one of the Navy's training showplaces.
With its coastal location, saltwater activities abound including:

- collecting seashells
- shore bird watching
