Naval Submarine Base Bangor is comprised of 7,300 acres in the tranquil surroundings of Silverdale, Washington. Commissioned in 1944, its mission was ammunition handling throughout WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. In the 1970s, NSB Bangor became home to the Trident submarine fleet. Today, there are 9,500 workers at the NSB Bangor base.
