Naval Station Bremerton, now part of a consolidated installation called Naval Base Kitsap, was founded in the early 1940's, and provides many varieties of support for submarines and surface vessels stationed in the Pacific Northwest region. The base is situated in Bremerton, Washinton, across the water from the city of Seattle, which affords the servicemembers stationed here both a small-town atmosphere and easy access to all the luxuries of living in the big city. For recreation, the Bremerton area offers well-known local sporting events, and the nearby city of Seattle offers no end of shopping, sightseeing and other activities.

NS Bremerton Colleges
Servicemembers stationed in Naval Station Bremerton (now officially the Bremerton Annex of Naval Base Kitsap) have options for continuing their higher education both on and off base. On-base institutes include Central Texas College and Vincennes University. Off-base, students can find courses at the local Olympic College or Kitsap County University, or, if they are able to commute to Seattle, at such schools as the University of Washington at Seattle or Seattle Pacific University.
