Gulfport Naval Construction Battalion is the home of the Seabees. The Seabees date back to 1942 when civilian construction workers enlisted early to start building for the Navy in the Pacific and European Theaters. During World War II, nearly 200,000 skilled craftsmen built 10,000 miles of road through some of the harshest environment in the world. Located just outside Gulfport, MS--population 70,055--Mobile Construction Battalions continue to deploy and fight today wherever they are needed to build, rebuild or maintain Navy infrastructure.
