Naval Air Station Whiting Field, located outside of the city of Milton, Florida, handles much of the primary flight training for the Navy. The history of Whiting Field goes back to the beginning of the use of jet aircraft in the Navy, in 1949, and the base has continued to act as one of the Navy's major pilot training bases to this day.
