Home to the 366th Fighter Wing, the base provides combat support and prepares servicemembers for expeditionary operations. The Park University - Mountain Home AFB, is the only local campus-based college readily accessible to active duty personnel and their families. Students on base take classes on a part-time or full-time basis that lead to college degrees applicable both to military and civilian careers. Active duty personnel and family members willing to make the hour's drive to Boise find several accredited institutions of higher education.
