Colleges Near Marine Corps Air Station Yuma
Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, located 2 miles outside of Yuma, Arizona, has a military history dating back to the late 1920's. After a few years as an Air Force training facility, it became a US Marine Corps air station in 1962. The base houses not only multiple operational squadrons of Harrier aircraft, but also the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 (MAWTS-1), which is instrumental in training all Marine tactical combat aviation units.
The base's future looks bright, with plans to equip units there with the new F35B Joint Strike Fighter. Off duty, servicemembers can enjoy the beautiful Arizona wilderness, or even trips across the nearby border into Mexico for sight-seeing and other adventures.
