Colleges Near Marine Corps Air Station New River
Marine Corps Air Station New River, located near Jacksonville in eastern North Carolina, was originally an airfield for the nearby Marine Corps Base Camp LeJeune. It grew through the years, and in 1968, became a significant air station and was given the name MCAS New River. The base handles training and operations with Marine Corps helicopters, and, recently, the new MV-22 Osprey aircraft. MCAS New River was the first station to receive this revolutionary new combat aircraft. Off duty, servicemembers can enjoy the local Jacksonville culture as well as the nearby North Carolina coastal beaches.

The education center provides locations for several colleges to hold convenient courses, either on this base or in the nearby Camp LeJeune. Off base, Jacksonville is home to other educational opportunities, including Coastal Carolina Community College. Oustide of education, the local community is rich in culture and history.
