Hickam Air Force Base is located on 2,850 acres on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, in the city of Honolulu. Hickam AFB is bordered by Honolulu International Airport to its east, and Pearl Harbor on the west. Founded in 1935, Hickam is home to the 15th Wing and 67 partner units including the Pacific Air Forces and Hawaii National Guard. Hickam's population is approximately 34,305 including 9,007 service members, their families, and other civilians. Hickam was the target of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1947. The USS Arizona memorial and Pacific Aviation Museum are popular attractions near Hickam AFB. The greater Honolulu area offers a wealth of recreational attractions highlighting Hawaii's natural beauty and cultural diversity.
