Colleges Near Hanscom Air Force
Hanscom Air Force Base is located 20 miles northwest of Boston. In 1941, it started out as L.G. Hanscom Field, training P-40 Warhawk pilots bound for the North African theater. By 1950, Hanscom and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were sharing research information on the development of computers and electronics. Today, the 66th Air Base Wing manages the development and acquisition of electronic command and control systems, along with analyzing the information gathered by these systems.
The base supports a workforce of 7,763 on 846 acres just outside of Bedford, MA--population 13,814. Revolutionary War history is big here. Three must-see attractions include:
