The Devens Reserve Training Area is situated 40 miles west of Boston, in the Nashoba Valley area of Massachusetts. Its South Post Training area occupies 4,800 acres and its Main Post, 400 acres. Ayers, Devens' home, a small, rural town, boasts apple orchards and scenic countryside. The area experiences four distinct seasons with snow in the winter. The location and climate allow for outdoor activities, such as skiing, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, and white water rafting.
