One of the US Air Force's most critical bases, Charleston Air Force Base is home to the 437th Airlift Wing. This unit, and it's Air Force Reserve sister unit, the 315th Airlift Wing, are tasked with carrying out a large portion of the troop and supply transportation for the Air Force's Air Mobility Command, using aircraft including the C-17 "Globemaster III" transport. Servicemembers stationed in the Charleston area will find plenty to do, with many local museums and historic areas, as well as local fairs and activities.

Charleston AFB: Colleges
Charleston AFB is located within the city limits of Charleston, South Carolina, and is a major Air Force installation. This means that for servicemembers stationed at Charleston AFB, education is always within reach. There is a selection of schools available through the on-base education center, including Park University, Southern Illinois University and Webster University, as well as local schools in the rest of the city of Charleston, such as Virginia College, Strayer University and Trident Technical College.
