Beale Air Force Base is a moderate-sized U.S. Air Force base located just east of Marysville, California, a part of Yuba City. This location is just 40 miles north of the state capital at Sacramento. Beale AFB has been an active military base since World War II, during which time it served as a prisoner of war internment facility for German POWs. Currently, the base hosts the 9th Reconnaissance Wing, which is tasked with collecting and disseminating critical strategic level intelligence that can influence major national policy.

For recreation both on and off base, Beale AFB has much to offer service members and their families. Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area and many natural resources, including Yosemite National Park, are all within a few hours' drive.
Beale Air Force Base Colleges
Working conveniently with the Beale Air Force Base education center, Embry-Riddle Aeronautic University and the University of Phoenix both have offices on base and offer courses and programs geared toward the active duty service member in both schedule and cost. In addition, service members can also pursue a higher eduction through the local Yuba Community College campuses as well as Chapman University College.
