Arnold Air Force Base is located near Manchester and Tullahoma, TN, about midway between Nashville and Chattanooga. Originally dubbed "Camp Forrest," Arnold Air Force Base served throughout WWII as a training camp, aviation flight training facility, and eventually, a prisoner of war camp. The Arnold Engineering Development Center began operations locally in 1950 and is now the largest and most technologically advanced complex of flight simulation test facilities in the world. The base supports a workforce of 2,600 on 40,000 acres that include a 4,000-acre lake.
