Colleges Near Andrews Air Force
Andrews Air Force Base was founded and built between 1941 and 1943 as Camp Springs Army Air Field, as a base for the Army Air Forces before the U.S. Air Force was created in 1947. It is located in Prince George County, just a few miles away from Washington, D.C. Andrews AFB houses the 89th Airlift Wing, which, in addition to other missions, operates the President's official aircraft, Air Force One. With the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic coast in its backyard, Andrews AFB is never very far from an array of cultural and outdoor recreational activities.
