College Level Examination Program ("CLEP")
Funded by DANTES, CLEP is available to anyone, but it is free to members of the military. It allows individuals to earn college credit simply by taking an exam. If you pass, you can get the credit. CLEP credits are accepted by a wide range of schools and degree programs. Check with the individual schools for their policies regarding CLEP.
The examinations test an individual's knowledge at a college level. The goal is to test knowledge gained through work, personal pursuits, and independent study, and professional development. It is a lot like getting credit for working. There are a wide range of subjects, including accounting, psychology, business law, and principles of marketing.
The CLEP tests are available at testing centers nationally and are managed by the College Board.
