Have your dependent contact the school’s veterans affairs officer, if they have one. If they don’t, the financial aid office is the place to contact.
Your dependent should be able to make use of the Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits just as if they were you, with the added complication that they will need to have some of your information available for verification purposes. This could include your social security number, and information about your time in service.
A complicating factor is that universities are still getting used to this system, and even the proper office may not be immediately familiar with the process. However, since they can call the VA to clear up any problems, the delays shouldn’t be too bad.
