I’m assuming Shantelle you already qualify for both the Montgomery GI Bill and the Post 9/11 GI Bill and signing up for the kicker will be part of a re-enlistment. This scenario makes the most sense to me based on your question.
Yes, Shantelle you can, but don’t think of it as getting your associates’ degree and then switching to get your BA. Think of it as using up all of your old GI Bill benefits first and then switching to the New GI Bill. Doing it this way, you can get up to 12 additional months of educational benefits.
If you switch to the New GI Bill with benefits left on your old GI Bill, then you will get just those same number of months. If you use up all your months of benefit first, and then switch to the New GI Bill, you can get more months of benefit; its called the Rule of 48.
Hmm that’s interessting but actually i have a hard time understanding it… wonder what others have to say..
What part don’t you understand? Maybe I can reword it and make it more clear.
