The amount you will get is on the kicker document in your enlistment packet. Because the amount have varied throughout the years, your amount may be $950 or it could be less. Because of this variance, when you decide to start drawing on your kicker, you will have to send a copy of your kicker paperwork to the VA so they know your authorized to be paid for a kicker and how much. Send in your kicker paperwork at the same time you apply for your GI Bill.

When you say "up to $950 a month", how do you know exactly how much that will be. is it $950, or is it less? is there some chart out there that can explain this?
